Nico has retained ALS to conduct ore preparation and metallurgical testwork including bench scale optimisation testwork in support of the proposed flowsheet for the Wingellina Project. Our focus is on HPAL processing to produce a Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate, laying the foundation for further advancements in our metallurgical processes. The testwork ore is representative of the predominant limonite ore type within the Wingellina deposit.

Nico has piloted the production of quicklime from the Lewis Calcrete deposit, which is used in the chemical process to produce a Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate. The piloting indicates that quicklime production at Wingellina will contribute to lower production costs.

Nico’s site chef Wim Demot cooks up a storm at the remote Wingellina Project site, flavoured with his home grown produce. And Wim has been teaching locals in the nearby Wingellina Aboriginal Community to do the same.

Nico hosts school students from the nearby Wingellina campus of the Ngaanyatjarra Lands School. The regular end of term lunch excursions, courtesy of Max and the magnificent Nico site team, are warmly welcomed by students and teachers.

Nico’s Wingellina Nickel Cobalt Project is situated 12 km south-west of Surveyor Generals Corner near the NT-SA-WA border in the Gibson and Great Victoria deserts. When operational, Wingellina will produce nickel and cobalt for the electric vehicle and energy storage industries, contributing to decarbonization.
